The Moldovan President Maia Sandu has signed into legislation a new law that prohibits the distribution of Russian TV news and political analysis in the country.
According to Balkan Insight, the Information Security Law, which is aimed at countering Russian propaganda about the war in Ukraine, will remain in force even after the lifting of the state of emergency in Moldova imposed following the invasion of Ukraine.
The new law prohibits news and political analysis from countries that have not ratified the Convention on Transfrontier Television. It also says that 50% of TV content must come from the EU, US and countries that have ratified the convention.
Broadband TV News notes that the Moldovan parliament passed the Information Security Law at the beginning of this month.
