Television Limited has surrendered its broadcast licence to Ofcom.
The KTV service had been off-air since March 31, 2022, when the broadcast regulator suspended its licence after an investigation found the Prime Time discussion show had included material likely to incite violence.
Following the suspension, Ofcom issued Khalsa with a draft notice to revoke its licence. Subsequently, on May 26, 2022, the regulator received word Khalsa was to surrender its licence.
In a statement the regulator said: “Ofcom has a duty to revoke a broadcast licence if we are satisfied that a licensee has broadcast a programme likely to encourage or to incite the commission of crime; that it has therefore contravened its licence conditions; and that the contravention justifies the revocation of the licence.”
