When it comes to RoI, nothing beats the first spot on a linear live sports event, according to Christoph Limmer, executive VP, video services at Eutelsat.
Speaking in the View from the Top in the TV Industry panel discussion at NEM 2022 in Dubrovnik, he added that one cannot say that linear services are dying. In fact, the reverse has been the case in the last 12 months.
Meanwhile, Tonko Weissmann, the new executive VP at RTL Croatia, said that sports rights are becoming increasingly difficult to secure. Indeed, nobody would have predicted a couple of years ago that OTT services would be fighting for such rights.
Speaking about RTL Croatia’s plans for the future now that it is part of the CME group, Weissmann said that while it is entertainment driven there is a shift to VOD, in fact exclusive VOD.
Hans Troelstra, CEO, M7 Group, said that the next step of group, which is now owned by Canal+, is moving to its own productions.
