The high definition version of the BBC News is to leave the UK terrestrial platform Freeview at the end of June.
Frequencies used by the COM7 multiplex (also known as Mux E) are being handed over to the mobile operator EE.
The BBC has confirmed that BBC Four HD and CBeebies HD will move to capacity that has been identified on the PSB3 multiplex operated by the BBC itself. It also means the channels will increase their reach because of the wider availability of PSB3.
BBC Four is itself the subject of closure plans in the next few years as part of the BBC’s £500 million reorganisation plans, but no date has been set.
News Channel viewers are being advised to watch the HD version on BBC iPlayer.
Other channels using COM7 include FreeSports, More4+1, PBS America +1 and Forces TV.
A spokesperson for Freeview told Broadband TV News that conversations with the channels are still ongoing and the final channel line-up is still subject to change.
