DAZN is to reduce the number of staff at its London headquarters by fifty.
According to Deadline, which first reported the story, a four-week redundancy process has begun at the steamer’s Hammersmith facility.
The number represents just 5% of UK staff and 2% of its global workforce of 2,500.
However, at the same time 50 fresh staff are being hired in Spain ahead of the launch of DAZN’s La Liga coverage next season.
It demonstrates the volatility of sports rights with DAZN having failed to extend its foothold in the UK, after it lost out to Warner Bros. Discovery in bidding for BT Sport’s operations.
Conversely, DAZN is enjoying growth in Spain, Italy, and Germany.
DAZN holds rights to Serie A football in Italy, Matchroom Boxing, basketball, and tennis.
