Subscribers to the Dutch pay-DTT platform Digitenne are being offered the opportunity to swap out their rental decoder for a CI+ plug-in module.
It means that the internal receiver of the television is used instead, saving on power consumption, and also improving reception quality in some instances.
Totaal TV, which first reported the story, says that until recently the plug-in CI+ module was only available to new subscribers.
Digitenne, operated by the telco KPN, runs DVB-T2 in MPEG-4 with H.265 (HEVC) compression alongside the plug-in of version CI+ 1.4. This narrows down who can take advantage of the offer to those with newer 4K televisions.
