Starlight Media, one of the leading media groups in Ukraine, has set up a new division named Starlight Doc.
Headed by Anastasiya Shteinhauz, the executive director of ICTV, it will produce documentaries for both Ukrainian viewers and global platforms.
Starlight Media notes that although the production of documentaries has until now not been popular among Ukrainian media companies, the situation has changed in the light of the current war.
According to Shteinhauz, “We at ICTV are well acquainted with the creation of heroic universes. But the truth is that the main such world now is just outside our windows. Heroes and heroines have different costumes – the uniform of the armed forces, doctors, comfortable clothes of volunteers, the uniform of the Ukrainian railway. We don’t need imagination to create them. Right now we need to show the truth about this reality. We have both professional people who can tell these stories and high-quality technical support. We want to form this vision of Ukraine for which we are fighting, to record how we do it and next to whom. We plan not only to broadcast all the stories on our channels, but also to jump to the world’s media players. Ukrainian history has no borders, we are all convinced of that”.
Starlight Media notes that Starlight Doc is already up and running. Although 80% of its content will be produced in-house, there are already projects under way that will be co-developed or co-produced with European producers.
