With qualifying for the French Open already underway, Warner Bros. Discovery Sports has announced details of its coverage from Roland-Garros across Discovery+ and Eurosport.
It’s the first tournament covered by Warner Bros. Discovery Sports since the signature on a new agreement with the Fédération Française de Tennis (FFT). Eurosport has covered the event since 1989.
Scott Young, SVP Content and Production at Warner Bros. Discovery Sports Europe, said: “Roland-Garros is not only the pinnacle of the clay court season but the perhaps the crème de la crème of Eurosport’s tennis coverage given it’s founded on a relationship stretching back more than 30 years and has provided some of the most iconic moments in the sport’s history.”
All 886 matches from Roland-Garros will be available live on discovery+ and the Eurosport App in most European markets. There will also be long and short form documentary features.
In France, coverage is shared between the public broadcaster France Télévisions and Prime Video.
In Germany, the UHD event channel Eurosport 4K will be available on UHD1 from satellite and internet platform HD+. On the 15 tournament days, all matches will be broadcast on the Court Philippe-Chatrier in UHD HDR – without commercial breaks and with German commentary. Neighbouring Austria will be able to view the Eurosport 4K coverage on simpliTV.
Former top 10 players Barbara Schett and Tim Henman will be based at the brilliant extended reality Cube studio in London with seven-time Grand Slam champion Mats Wilander – on the 40th anniversary of his first French Open title – on-the-ground at Roland-Garros where he will be joined by the iconic John McEnroe and two-time French Open finalist Alex Corretja.
The tournament begins on May 22nd.
