Italy has stopped broadcasting on nearly all Croatian UHF TV channels in the 700 MHz band and in the 470 -694 MHz band along the Adriatic coast.
Furthermore, according to the Croatian regulator HAKOM, it plans to switch off the remaining two channels in the 700 MHz band (K-55 and K-57) by June 30.
HAKOM adds that preliminary measurements confirm that in April 2022 significant progress was finally made in eliminating most Italian UHF TV interference, and more detailed measurements will be carried out in the regular summer measurement campaign.
HAKOM has taken many measures over the years to eliminate the interference. It sent more than 7,000 reports of disturbances to the Italian administration requesting its removal and reported this to the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
The regulator periodically performs measurements throughout the year, and from June to September this year it is planned to conduct a new measurement campaign that will cover the area along the entire Croatian coast and will include control of the FM frequency range.
The problem of Italian interference with Croatian radio programmes is still present and is being addressed separately.
