News UK’s new TV operation TalkTV goes live at 7pm tonight (Monday), backed by a new advertising campaign featuring star signing Piers Morgan.
The news and opinion channel is being launched in competition to GB News in which Warner Bros. Discovery has an interest.
The ‘Can’t Say That’ TV campaign, features Morgan promoting his new show Piers Morgan Uncensored, which airs at 8pm nightly. It will also be seen on Fox Nation in the United States and Sky News Australia.
The programme has already been in the news over an interview with former US President Donald Trump who may, or may not, have walked out of a recording.
In the 30 second advert, which aired for the first time on Sunday 24 April, every time Piers tries to explain what his new show is about he is interrupted by a producer attempting to police his language on an increasingly ludicrous and laughable basis.
The TV commercial is part of a wider campaign that features press, outdoor, social media and radio executions and has been developed as a collaboration between News UK and Pulse, News UK’s in-house advertising agency operated by The&Partnership.
Social media video advertising features Piers giving straight talking perspectives on issues of the day and public figures.
Will Martin, Head of Marketing for TalkTV, says: “TalkTV is a bold new voice in news, current affairs, debate and opinion. The channel will also draw on world-class journalism and content from across News UK’s stable of brands. Our campaign aims to showcase Piers Morgan Uncensored in a bold and entertaining way with much more to come over the coming weeks.”
In addition to Morgan, The Talk features Sharon Osbourne and a panel of five opinionated famous faces – all from different backgrounds and with differing views – to debate the most interesting stories of the day, while award-winning political journalist Tom Newton Dunn will present a nightly current affairs programme.
The schedule is being simulcast on News UK-owned Talk Radio, which has updated its branding to match that of its TV partner. During the day Talk TV will show coverage from Talk Radio, which has been available in video online for several months.
