Amazon is changing the name of its ad-supported streaming service from IMDb TV to Amazon Freevee.
The change is expected to take place on April 27.
The parcels to showbiz company said it also planned to expand its original programming by some 70%. There would also be more original movies.
“We’re looking forward to building on this momentum with an increasing slate of inventive and broadly appealing Originals, and are excited to establish Freevee as the premier AVOD service with content audiences crave,” Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon Studios, said in a statement.
Having tripled its monthly users In two years, Amazon Freevee will launch in Germany later in the year.
Last month Amazon closed a $8.45 billion acquisition of MGM studios.
