Montenegro has suspended the broadcasting of RT (Russia Today) and Sputnik on its territory.
According to Balkan Insight, the government has finally adopted the measure five weeks after it joined EU sanctions on Russia on March 1.
It adds that the suspension covers all broadcasting licences or approvals for Russian sponsored media, prohibiting broadcasting by any means, such as cable, satellite, IPTV, internet service providers, internet video-sharing platforms or applications.
The Montenegrin government has been deeply divided about imposing such measures, reflecting deep East-West divisions in the country. In fact, they were only supported by seven of its 12 ministers.
