The Lithuanian regulator LRTK has asked Google to remove apps from its Play Store that allow for the reception of banned Russian TV channels.
In a statement, it says that Google’s online store contains at least 38 apps from the Russian Federation that can be used to watch what it describes as “propaganda TV programmes”.
Broadband TV News notes that in late February LRTK announced that it had already temporarily suspended the channels Planeta RTR, Rossija 24, NTV Mir and Belarus 24, First Baltic Channel Lithuania, PBK, TVCi, Mir24 and RBK-TV for a period of five years and was considering suspending channels operated by Gazprom-Media.
Earlier this month, it banned the retransmission of all services “established directly or indirectly controlled, financed or financed by the Russian Federation or the Republic of Belarus”.
