Wiztivi develops HbbTV app for Fransat

March 11, 2022 09.09 Europe/London By Julian Clover

Fransat, Eutelsat’s DTH platform for the French market, is launching a new version of its Smart TV app.

Fransat Connect has been developed on the latest version of Wiztivi Framework using HbbTV.

The UI has been modernised with a more intuitive UX and compatibility with the latest HbbTV features. It’s also possible to manage user consent and display free or paid TV programme suggestions based on the user’s profile. The programme guide can run backwards by 24 hours or 7 days in advance.

Jean-Luc Deroudilhe, CEO of Fransat said: “We are pleased to provide our customers with a new easy-to-use TV application thanks to the expertise of Wiztivi, which combines, through a truly intuitive user interface, hybrid reception of linear satellite channels in combination with interactive content, transmitted to the TV via a broadband connection.”

The back-end was developed for the specific needs of Fransat. Users are segmented according to their device and the offers to which they have – or have not – subscribed. Very fine targeting is then possible, allowing for example the promotion of a channel package only to non-subscribers, or the promotion of 4k content only to those whose device is compatible.

“We are happy to have supported Fransat throughout their entire project. The different services involved at Wiztivi worked together wonderfully to develop this innovative end-to-end solution. For Wiztivi, it is also an opportunity to demonstrate the power of the latest version of our Framework. This amazing tool saves time for multi-device deployments and increases efficiency, which are cutting edge benefits for our customers.”, added Thibault Demartial, VP Sales and Marketing at Wiztivi.

The new Fransat Connect TV application is compatible with more than 3 000 different models of Smart TVs, from 2016 to 2022.
