The total number of pay-TV connections in Croatia increased by 1.9% and pay-TV revenues by 4.1% in 2021.
According to data published by the regulator HAKOM, as of the end of Q4 almost three in five (58.6%) households used some form of pay-TV.
Among all TV households, IPTV services were received by 30.3%, compared to 30% a year earlier. Cable accounted for 11.8% (12.2%), satellite TV 9.5% (9.8%) and pay DTT 7% (5.5%), while only FTA terrestrial services were received in 41.4% (42.5%) of homes. The total number of IPTV subscribers at the end of 2021 stood at 449,125 (+1.12% year-on-year), with cable accounting for 175,203 (-2.94%), satellite 140,058 (-3.52%) and pay-DTT 103,387 (+27.37%). The number of FTA terrestrial TV only homes fell by 2.67% to 612,732 over the year.
HAKOM notes that total investment in the Croatian electronic communications market in 2021 was HRK3.01 billion (€397 million), or 20.5% more than the previous year. Annual revenues were 3.6% higher at HRK11.5 billion.
