Italian media company MFE MediaForEurope, formerly Mediaset, wants to increase its shareholding in Germany media company ProSiebenSat.1 beyond the 25% threshold.
According to MFE, the company is seeking authorisation from the Federal German Cartel Office to cross the 25% threshold to its stake in the share capital of ProSiebenSat.1 Media.
The request has been made pursuant to article 39 of the German law on competition restrictions.
With a share of 21.6%, MFE is currently the largest single shareholder in ProSiebenSat.1. The company has been building up its stake in the past months.
ProSiebenSat.1 has repeatedly declined both an integration of the company into Amsterdam-based holding company MFE and a full-scale merger with Mediaset’s group of companies.
