Levira has decided to make the news channel France 24 available for free in Estonia.
Commenting on the move, which is a response to the war in Ukraine, Kristo Kaasan, director of technology and IT at Levira, said: “France 24 will be broadcast free to anyone who uses an antenna to receive television, and Levira will bear the cost of the transmission. We received the consent of France for this and the decision is also supported by the State Chancellery. Levira’s goal is to provide another channel where free information can flow in addition to ERR and Nastojasheje Vremja in Russian, and which people can watch for free”.
Aside from France 24, the public broadcaster’s channels ETV, ETV2 and ETV+ can be received FTA in Estonia.
Levira is the main operator of TV and radio networks in Estonia and has one of the largest data centres in Estonia.
It is owned by the Republic of Estonia and the French telecommunications company TDF, with shares of 51% and 49%, respectively.
