SES says the outlook for its video business is improving after it declined by 4.6% in 2021, an improvement both on 2020, and company forecasts.
The satellite operator’s net profits increased by 69% to €323 million after cost reductions. depreciation, and interest expenses. The company also received $1 billion received from first C-band clearance in the United States, which was added to its balance sheet.
“Our Video business delivered an improved trajectory on the back of important renewals with our long-term broadcast partners, growing number of HD TV channels, and the expansion of the HD+ offering in Germany,” explained CEO Steve Collar.
Video represents 59% of group revenues with the operator delivering 8, 386 channels, an increase of 1% on the year. 3,105 channels are in the HD format, up 5% on December 2020.
