beIN Media renews with Cognacq-Jay Image and Alpha Networks for MENA OTT

February 22, 2022 11.36 Europe/London By Julian Clover

beIN Media Group has extended the contract for development, maintenance and support of its over-the-top (OTT) platform for the Middle East and North Africa.

The broadcast company has added two years to the long-term partnership with Alpha Networks and Cognacq-Jay Image.

Alpha Networks’ Tucano APIs are connected to a large number of front-end providers and payment gateways, allowing beIN’s OTT platform, beIN Connect, to now address several operators and satellite operators in the MENA region.

Faisal Al Raisi, Manager of Digital Projects at beIN Media Group MENA, said: “We are delighted to continue our long-standing collaboration with Cognacq-Jay Image and Alpha Networks established seven years ago. We trust their technological expertise and value the quality of service they offer, especially during major events.”

Alpha Networks specialises in solutions for media companies and operators. Through its modular software Tucano, which allows out-of-the-box integration with video infrastructure and metadata providers, the company enables swift integration with any legacy system.

“At Alpha Networks, we are extremely grateful for the trust beIN Media Group has in our work and commitment. We are also very proud to see that our primary product, Tucano modular software, successfully supports one of the best solutions for sports distributions worldwide, counting millions of application downloads,” said Guillaume Devezeaux, CEO, Alpha Networks.

As the global system integrator for beIN, Cognacq-Jay Image provides the entire platform including Alpha Networks’ technologies as well also head-end services, streams security and 24/7 operations services.

“At Cognacq-Jay Image, we are proud to provide beIN Media Group with a platform which reflects our know-how and capability to deliver complex projects. We also maintained a high level of QoS and our capability to manage such a service with our partners over the years was the key to success. We are deeply grateful for the trust beIN Media Group has placed in us. Philippe Bonpunt, general manager, Cognacq-Jay Image.

beIN runs a suite of 15 sports, movies, general entertainment, and kids’ channels. The beIN Connect OTT platform counts more than 30 HD channels, including Live and Catch-up content for both sports and movies.
