Orange more than doubled its TV subscriber base in Romania following the acquisition of Telekom Romania’s fixed-line business.
Latest results published by Orange Group show that it ended 2021 with a total of 1,876,000 customers to its TV (IPTV and DTH) services in Central Europe, which it defines as Romania, Slovakia and Moldova. This was compared to 737,000 a year earlier, while Orange Romania itself says it had 1.5 million TV subscribers at the end of 2021.
Elsewhere in CEE, the Polish incumbent Orange ended last year with 995,000 IPTV and DTH subscribers, down from 1,015,000 in the same period in 2020.
In the last quarter of 2021 Orange Romania had consolidated turnover of €430 million, or 3% more than in the same period in 2020. The company notes it was generated by revenues from services, due to the expansion of the customer base. Consolidated turnover in 2021 was €1.235 billion, up 4% on the previous year.
Meanwhile in Poland, Orange notes that it gained 220,000 fibre customers in 2021, with a record 65,000 coming in the fourth quarter.
Its revenues in 2021 were 3.6% higher than a year earlier and EBITDAal up 6% year-on year.
