Intelsat partners with Hungaro DigiTel

February 15, 2022 13.12 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

Intelsat has signed a contract with 4iG’s Hungaro DigiTel to assist the company in its expansion of digital TV distribution services for TV2 Hungary.

Hungaro DigiTel will distribute 14 additional TV channels in Hungary and neighbouring countries.

They will leverage Intelsat’s 1West satellite neighbourhood over Hungary and Central Europe to provide access to millions of viewers.

Commenting on the development, Rhys Morgan, regional VP and general manager of Africa, Europe, and the Middle East at Intelsat, said: “Our video neighbourhoods and platforms allow our customers and their broadcast customers to maximise viewership by delivering targeted content to the right audiences.

“We are proud to be selected as a partner of choice for Hungaro DigiTel to support them in launching and delivering TV2 channels to the 1.8 million Hungarian viewers reached by the strong coverage provided by our 1West neighbourhood”.

Péter Fekete, MD of Hungaro DigiTel and member of the board of directors of 4iG, added: “The transmission of the TV channels belonging to the TV2 group reached its highest viewership in 2021, will be carried out by Hungaro DigiTel and Intelsat specialists with outstanding expertise and experience. Our cooperation with the TV2 Group and Intelsat will further strengthen HDT’s leading position in Hungary and the Central and Eastern European region.

“We are proud that the TV2 Group, which has the largest portfolio of channels, has chosen Hungaro DigiTel as a partner. With this agreement, two of Hungary’s leading companies in their respective fields have entered into cooperation”.
