Vodafone Portugal says it was the target of network disruption that began on the night of February 7 “due to a deliberate and malicious cyberattack intended to cause damage and disruption”.
It adds that it acted immediately to identify and contain the effects of the services, which included TV.
Diario de Noticias reports that Portugal’s Judiciary Police (PJ) is still collecting evidence on the case and that the only certainty at present is that no other company was hit by the cyberattack.
The investigation is taking place in collaboration with international and national partners, in the latter case the national cybersecurity centre or the Security Intelligence Service (SIS).
