ADB opts for MediaTek

February 8, 2022 18.12 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

ADB has once again chosen MediaTek as a chipset provider for its new hybrid DVB/IPTV and OTT set-top box (STB) platforms.

The ADB devices, designed for pay-TV operators, will be equipped with the high performance MT5751A (K8) SoC from MediaTek, the market leader in developing innovative systems-on-chip solutions for home entertainment. MediaTek is also a major player in the Android world and with this platform choice, ADB says it is preparing an ambitious Android TV roadmap for customers.

Commenting on the development, Krzysztof Bilinski, CTO at ADB, said: “We’re very happy that our cooperation with MediaTek evolved so well. It was critical for us to select the right SoC provider, as it is extremely important with the pandemic and component shortages to build future-proof solutions and keep the time-to-market for our customers short. We are very proud that our expertise in hardware design and software integration has once again been recognised by European Tier-1 operators who will receive deliveries of ADB’s MediaTek-based STBs in 2022”.
