Ziggo Sport has acquired the exclusive rights to live matches from the Rugby World Cup 2023. Dutch viewers will be able to enjoy the competition in their own time zone as the host nation is France.
The package includes include the postponed Rugby World Cup 2021 for women, the Rugby World Cup Sevens, the World Rugby WXV 2023 (new women’s international tournament) and the HSBC World Rugby Seven Series.
Ziggo has been the home of the Six Nations, the northern hemisphere’s prestigious rugby championship that began this weekend.
“The enthusiasm of the fans in the completely sold-out stadiums, the physical exhaustion on the field and the mutual sportsmanship make rugby one of the most beautiful spectator sports that sports lovers appreciate,” says Marcel Beerthuizen, director of Ziggo Sport. “With our programming, we are trying to retain the widest possible audience and are constantly working to further strengthen our rights package. That’s why I’m pleased that we can offer our viewers such a large and appealing tournament as the Rugby World Cup.”
The Rugby World Cup features the twenty best national teams competing for the official world championship.
The current defending champion is South Africa.
