Telekom Slovenije sues Pro Plus

February 4, 2022 10.02 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

The Slovenian incumbent Telekom Slovenije is suing Pro Plus, the operator of the country’s leading commercial stations Pop TV and Kanal A, for €12 million.

Zurnal 24 reports that in the lawsuit Telekom Slovenije claims that it has been paying too much for Pop TV, Kanal A and Pro Plus’s other channels Brio, Oto and Kino for several years.

It adds that Pro Plus took advantage of its dominant market position by forcing it to buy Brio, Oto and Kino alongside the popular Pop TV and Kanal A. Telekom Slovenije now pays €480,000 a month for the channels, compared to €30,000 before signing the latest contract in 2016. It is therefore demanding reimbursement.

Telekom Slovenije is likely to continue showing the channels until the end of this year, when the current contract expires.

In the lawsuit, it has asked the court to look at the contracts Pro Plus has with Telemach, A1 and T-2.

Pro Plus is owned by the Czech Republic’s PPF Group.
