Polish CDN data shows consumer breakthrough

January 28, 2022 08.59 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

Redge Media CDN has experienced a constant rise in online video consumer traffic over the last three years of operation.

The growth strongly accelerated in H2 2021 – despite content-as-usual – exhibiting a breakthrough in means of video consumption in Poland in favour of OTT.

Looking at the data from Redge Media CDN Q1 2018 – Q4 2021, there has been a clear upward trend. The trend slope got significantly steeper in H2 2021. In comparison to the previous levels, October and November 2021 were in themselves at all-time highs, exceeding any previous peak in online video traffic. Moreover, this all happened without any special events, just with content as usual.

The reasons for this growth are the increasing demand for rich video content online, and the digitisation in organisations. Another boost for CDN demand has been the Covid-19 outbreak. What’s also of note are regulatory changes, such as the recent Italian case of state-imposed Quality of Service for online video delivery, further pushing the deployment of greater CDN capacity.

Commenting on the development, Tomasz Paldyna, TV&Telco sales director at Redge Technologies, said: “The CDN market was valued $11.76 billion in 2020, and it is expected to reach a value of $49.61 billion by 2026, at a CAGR of 27.30%, over the forecast period for years 2021-2026. Given the observed pattern, we expect this rise to be exceeded further. Our CDN is ready to handle the growing demand and will continue to be reliable for our clients. This is due to its unique edge architecture and ultimate scalability”.

Redge Technologies is a leader in OTT and edge computing technologies in Central and Eastern Europe, present on the market since 2007. The company’s flagship solution is Redge Media – native technology platform for building internet TV. Redge Technologies is also the creator of Redge Guardian, an innovative carrier-grade system on European scale to protect against DDoS attacks.
