Zeonbud requests Ukrainian DTT licence contest

January 17, 2022 09.24 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

The Ukrainian DTT platform operator Zeonbud has asked the regulator National Council to hold a competition for FTA channel licences distributed on its multiplexes.

In a statement published by Mediasat, it said: “In order to ensure information security, counteract external negative information influence and disseminate objective information on the territory of Ukraine Zeonbud has modernised its own digital TV networks MX-2, MX-3, MX-5, in particular created free broadcast channels for four additional national TV and radio organizations.

“Given that in accordance with Part 7 of Art. 23 of the Law “On Television and Radio Broadcasting” multichannel broadcasting using radio frequency resources is carried out on a competitive basis, Zeonbud” appealsto the National Council with a proposal to comply with the law and announce a competition for licences to broadcast free channels on Zeonbud’s multichannel networks MX-2, MX -3 and MX-5”.

Broadband TV News notes that Zeonbud operates a total of four multiplexes and covers 95% of Ukraine’s population.
