The Belgian Institute for Postal Services and Telecommunications (BIPT) has invited candidates for its long-anticipated auction of the future radio frequency spectrum.
According to the regulator, the auction, covering the new 5G and existing 2G and 3G radio spectrum, will help shape the telecom landscape in the country for the next 20 years. It includes a package of spectrum reserved for a possible new mobile operator entering the market.
BIPT adds that candidates have until February 16 to submit their actual candidacy. Next, it will decide on the admissibility of each candidacy submitted.
The operators who are deemed admissible, will take part in the auction scheduled for June 2022, anonymously. Following the auction, the names of the winners will be made public, as well as the radio spectrum allocated per operator for each of the radio spectrum bands to be auctioned.
