French SVOD platform Salto has “around 700,000 subscribers”, according to the president of public broadcaster France Télévisions.
Speaking on France Inter, and reported by Satellifax, Delphine Ernotte gave the figure without specifying how many were paying the full €6.99 monthly subscription.
However, it is significantly higher than the widely quoted 300,000 figure first published by Capital magazine earlier this month.
Asked why Salto, a joint venture between France Télévisions and commercial broadcasters TF1 and M6, Ms Ernotte replied that Salto was young and just starting out.
Salto was launched in October 2020 to counter US streaming services, such as Netflix, that are making their mark on the French market.
