Comcast Cable’s SVP of Content Acquisition has been named as the CEO for the upcoming SkyShowtime launch.
The streaming service is a joint venture between Comcast’s Sky and ViacomCBS. It will launch in 20 European markets where the Sky brand and Viacom’s Paramount+ are not present.
Sarhan, who was previously in charge of MGM’s Epix, will be based in London and report to the SkyShowtime board.
In a memo to staff, Sky executive VP and CEO Andrea Zappia said: “Monty is ideally suited to take the reins of SkyShowtime, drawing upon his extensive experience spanning the entertainment industry, having worked in programming, strategy and distribution at subscription services and across MVPD, video on demand, and direct-to-consumer platforms.”
