The third season of Das Boot (The Boat) will be available in the 8K format to Samsung TV owners.
The drama, being released in the spring, will be the first German-language 8K series and also features Dolby Atmos. Ten episodes are being produced by Bavaria Fiction for Sky Deutschland.
Samsung has been producing 8K TVs commercially since 2018 with its QLED technology, but only those released since 2020 will be capable of displaying the series. Das Boot will be released in the Spring, initially on QLED 8K TVs, with customers accessing the show via the Samsung TV Plus app.
As part of a marketing campaign, the manufacturer is currently giving away streaming subscriptions for smart TVs and soundbars. A corresponding Sky Ticket-Package is required.
