Pathé Theatres has majority shareholder of Pathé Thuis with immediate effect.
The streaming service was initially launched in 2011, but has operated independently since December 2014. It was used by more than 900,000 households in 2021, who between them rented out more than 5 million films.
Thomas van de Weerd, General Director Pathé Thuis said: “Seven years after our corporatization, Pathé Thuis is back to the family where we took the first steps. I am very much looking forward to more intensive cooperation with Pathé and to the opportunities this will bring for both teams, film distributors and film fans. Together, we are in an even better position to continue growing.”
Pathé Theatres is the market leader in Dutch cinema market with 29 theatres and 245 screens.
Pathé Thuis offers a catalogue of 4,400 films and will rent out more than 5 million films in 2021.
