Alinda Capital Partners has entered into a binding agreement to sell the Polish national transmission company Emitel to Cordiant Digital Infrastructure Limited for an undisclosed fee.
The closing of the transactions depends on, inter alia, obtaining the necessary regulatory approvals.
Cordiant is listed on the London Stock Exchange (LSE) and an investment fund focused on digital infrastructure in Europe and North America. It manages assets with a total committed capital of around $3 billion.
Commenting on the transaction, Steven Marshall, Cordiant Digital Infrastructure project leader, said: “Emitel is a national champion operating throughout the country based on strong financial foundations. The company has attractive growth prospects in such areas as the construction of telecommunications infrastructure, data centers and smart city solutions. We are impressed by the achievements of the management board and employees of the company so far, we also appreciate the strong emphasis on the sustainable development of the company. We look forward to investing capital to support the continued growth of Emitel”.
Andrzej J. Kozlowski, president of Emitel, added: “I would like to thank Alinda for many years of support as an investor.
“Cordiant Digital is an entity that offers a long-term investment horizon, capital and know-how that will be a great support in our medium and long-term development plans. The combination of these factors will allow us to develop in the area of television and radio broadcasting services and strengthen our position on the telecommunications infrastructure rental market. Cordiant Digital will be our partner in building Emitel’s value and will help us, on the one hand, to take advantage of the opportunities that arise, and on the other hand, to face the challenges of expanding the telecommunications infrastructure and providing access to broadband Internet in Poland. We are looking forward to working with the Cordiant team and to attracting such an experienced investor”.
Jim Metcalfe, managing partner of Alinda Capital Partners and chairman of the supervisory board of Emitel, said: “Thanks to the work of the management board and all employees of Emitel, the company continues to provide the best quality radio and television broadcasting services in Poland and is growing as one of the leading providers of tower infrastructure in the “build to suit” model for mobile operators. Importantly, Emitel constantly implements initiatives in the field of ESG – in many cases exceeding expectations – which has recently been recognized in the assessments of the Company’s sustainable development activities. Alinda will work closely with the Management Board and Cordiant team to obtain the necessary regulatory approvals and efficiently hand over the reins to a new long-term investor”.
