Virgin Media O2 CEO Lutz Schüler says telcos now have the chance to be the platforms for TV, video and other home services, through mobile or broadband TV.
In an interview with The Sunday Times, Schüler says a variety of other services can be added, using customer data more intelligently to help content providers reach more viewers.
As previously reported, Virgin is not planning a “Virgin TV” set to mirror Sky Glass. Instead, a streaming device, named in the Sunday Times article as Virgin TV Stream is in the works. The dongle will plug into any standard TV to offer a Virgin-branded connected TV experience.
“I’m telling you, if the market in the UK turns into Sky Glass, we have our answer all ready. Don’t underestimate us,” said Schüler.
