Media Broadcast has released details of the 5G Broadcast test currently underway in Hamburg.
Since the tests got underway in October 2021, there have been no complaints from any of the 180,000180,000 DVB-T2 HD households in the area. Media Broadcast says this is further proof that both broadcasting technologies can be operated in parallel in one frequency range and even directly adjacent.
Three formats have been set up at the NDR playout centre; the broadcasting of linear TV programmes as well as the on-demand distribution of programmes via ILS (Internet Link Services) and HbbTV-based media content.
The transmitter network on channel 34, consisting of the two sites Heinrich-Hertz-Turm and Hamburg-Moorfleet, most of Hamburg as well as some neighbouring regions.
Meanwhile, Germany’s new coalition government has given its backing to securing the UHF band for broadcasting.
