A survey by broadcast and media trade body IBAM has found 65.7% of respondents do not intend to visit this year’s IBC2021 event.
IBAM, itself an owner of IBC, received a total of 1,359 responses, with a 89.8% completion rate. 18.9% said they would be attending the Amsterdam event that has been hit by a string of cancellations amid a rising Covid infection rate in the Netherlands.
The survey divides attendance into three categories; exhibitors, visitors and others. The latter comprising analysts and journalists are more likely to attend.
The latest companies to withdraw from the event include Commscope, SmarDTV, Norwia, Broadpeak and Canon.
Argosy, Vislink, Actus Digital, Beenius, Vislink and MediaKind are understood to be going ahead with their plans to exhibit.
IBC is jointly owned by six partner bodies: IABM, IEEE, IET, RTS, SCTE and SMPTE.
