A board member of Altice Portugal says the company is not for sale.
Last month Bloomberg reported Altice was considering selling its Portugese operations and had received interest from five potential bidders, valuing the telco at €7 billion.
But Dennis Okhuijsen, a former CFO of Altice International, told a conference call the company was not planning a divestiture, and if it were then the offer would have have to be “extremely attractive”.
‘We publicly disclosed at the end of the previous quarter that there is no official divestment process in Portugal,’ he said.
Blackstone, CVC Capital Partners, Apollo Global Management,EQT AB and Spanish telecom operator Masmovil Ibercom were named as potential buyers.
In 2015, Altice paid 5.5 billion for the acquisition of Portugal Telecom.
