The number of pay-TV subscribers in Russia increased by just under 2.6% in the third quarter.
According to preliminary data from TelecomDaily, this amounted to only 116,000 subscribers, with the total reaching 45.220 million.
The number is now projected to rise to 45.3 million by the end of the year and 45.8 million in 2022.
Pay-TV penetration in Q3 remained at 81%, while ARPU was R194 (€2.36) excluding VAT. TelecomDaily notes that there was no change in the top five providers of pay-TV services in the quarter, with Tricolor remaining top spot with 12.26 million subscribers.
It was followed by Rostelecom (10.74 million), MTS (4.5 million), ER-Telecom (3.81 million) and Orion (3.04 million).
MTS and Rostelecom accounted for most of the additional subscribers in the third quarter.
