RFT, wilhelm.tel, willy.tel add Stingray music offers to cable

November 17, 2021 08.00 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

German cable operators RFT kabel Brandenburg, wilhelm.tel and willy.tel are now offering their customers the TV channel Stingray iConcerts HD and the TV music package Stingray Music.

Stingray Music includes 50 channels curated by music experts with commercial-free, non-stop music in genres such as rock, pop, country, R&B, jazz and hip-hop, as well as channels customised for a certain situation, for example a relax and nature channel. Stingray iConcerts HD shows recordings of live concerts by well-known bands. The channel reaches around 250 million cable households worldwide and can now be received for the first time on German cable via DNMG’s partner networks.

With the distribution of the music offerings, enabled by a framework agreement between Stingray and Deutsche Netzmarketing GmbH (DNMG), the network operators are reacting to the increasing demand for music, Tom Adams, Managing Director of Stingray Germany, told Broadband TV News.

In addition to Stingray iConcerts HD and Stingray Music, cable customers will also gain access to the Stingray Music app as part of the basic cable TV package. This turns the network operator into a daytime companion: “With the Stingray Music app, customers stay engaged with the network operator’s products and brand throughout the day, not just in the evening while watching TV,” Adams explained. Customers can use the smartphone/tablet app, which appears in the network operator’s brand design, to listen to music outside the home, for example in the car, on the train or at work – at no extra cost and commercial-free. The same applies to the Stingray Music Web Player.

The Stingray music offers and the app provide the medium-sized network operators with a unique advantage in competition, stressed Damian Lohmann, Head of Partner Management at DNMG, adding that they can strengthen customer loyalty and reach new target groups at the same time.
