Vodafone ended the first half of FY 2022 with a total of 22.2 million European TV subscribers, including VodafoneZiggo in the Netherlands.
This, according to the company in its latest set of results, was down from the 22.3 million it posted for the corresponding figure in the last FY.
In Germany, Vodafone added 86,000 cable customers during the period, including 38,000 migrations from legacy DSL broadband. Half of its cable broadband customers now subscribe to speeds of at least 250Mbps, and gigabit speeds are available to 23.1 million households across its hybrid fibre cable.
At the same time, its TV customer base declined by 101,000, as reduced retail activity during the Covid-19 pandemic led to fewer gross customer additions. However, its converged customer base increased by 330,000 to almost 2 million consumer converged accounts.
Meanwhile in Spain, Vodafone’s TV customer base decreased by 38,000 as it concluded a promotion. It recently renewed its exclusive agreement with HBO Max, and through its partnerships with other content providers such as Disney, Vodafone now believes it has the most extensive library of movies and TV series in the market.
In other European markets, there were 299,000 TV subscribers in Italy at the end of the period, down from 306,000 three months earlier. In Portugal, on the other hand, the total grew from 764,000 to 780,000. Elsewhere in Europe, including CEE but excluding VodafoneZiggo , the figure remained constant at 2,425,000.
Vodafone Group had revenues of €22,489 million in H1 FY 2022. Adjusted EBITDA was €7,565 million (+6.5%)
