EWE provides IPTV platform with Ocilion

October 26, 2021 17.30 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

German energy and telecommunications company EWE is deploying an IPTV platform developed together with Austrian service provider Ocilion.

The offer, branded ZuhauseTV, contains the major public and commercial TV channels, many of them in HD quality, several catch-up services, interactive add-on functions such as pausing, fast-forwarding and rewinding live TV, replay TV and a cloud-based virtual video recorder with 50 hours of recording capacity.

The multiscreen service can be used on up to five end devices, including smartphone, tablet, web browser, Apple TV or Fire TV.

“We want to offer our customers everything they need for their homes from a single source. In addition to electricity and gas, our portfolio also includes internet, telephony, mobile telephony and TV. With ZuhauseTV, we are launching a complete solution for unrestricted TV enjoyment,” said Benjamin Reinicke, Head of Product Management Digital Services at EWE.

The offer is an on-premises end-to-end solution from Ocilion, hosted in EWE’s own infrastructure.

“ZuhauseTV is a mature and future-proof TV product with a modern design, particularly serving the demand for time-shifted and mobile viewing,” said Ocilion Managing Director Hans Kühberger. “The innovative IPTV offer has a modular design on the system side and can thus be expanded in the future with new functions and new content as required: ZuhauseTV is therefore always up to date.”
