Poland’s Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) has begun to inform the public about the transition to the DVB-T2/HEVC broadcasting standard.
Changes will be implemented in stages, on a voivodship-by-voivodship basis, with the process being completed on June 30, 2022.
In a statement, UOKiK’s president Tomasz Chrostny said: “The upcoming change in the way of broadcasting terrestrial television is a huge technological leap of a global nature. For the sake of consumers’ access to reliable information, I decided to join the campaign of the Institute of Telecommunications, promoting a new digital terrestrial television. Changes in the TV signal supply will start functioning as early as next year. Consumers should prepare for the upcoming changes – it is worth checking the TV model for compliance with the DVB-T2 system standards now. Let’s not forget about seniors who may need the support of their loved ones in this respect”.
