Revenues from telecom and audiovisual services in Spain amounted to €5.668 billion in the first quarter of 2021. T
his, according to figures published by the regulator CNMC, was 3.6% less than in the same period last year.
In the fixed line sector, they rose by 4.2% for broadband to €1.112 billion, while audiovisual services slumped by 9% to €910.4 million.
CNMC notes that the market share for the leading operators Movistar, Vodafone and Orange continued to fall, by 3.2pp in the case of fixed broadband.
The total number of NGA accesses reached 68.7 million, or 7.6% more than a year earlier. However, the only sector that grew was FTTH, with 58.1 million accesses deployed, or 5 million more than a year earlier.
As of March 2021, 74.6% of all broadband lines were fibre. Of the 16 million fixed broadband connections, those with a contracted speed of 30 Mbps or higher amounted to 14.1 million, which represented 1.2 million more than in March 2020.
And of these 14.1 million lines, 97% had a contracted speed of 100 Mbps or more.
