Vodafone integrates Facebook Watch into TV platform

September 29, 2021 08.00 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

Vodafone is bringing Facebook Watch to its TV and entertainment platform Vodafone TV across Europe.

The telco is the first TV provider in Europe to integrate the social network’s streaming service on a set-top box. The video offer will be available to Vodafone TV customers in Germany, Italy, the Czech Republic, Portugal and Greece from October 2021. Other European markets are to follow soon.

At Vodafone Deutschland, Facebook Watch will be integrated into the GigaTV environment. GigaTV is based on the cloud-based TV and entertainment platform Vodafone TV used by Vodafone Group to provide TV and video-on-demand services to 22 million customers in 10 European markets.

Facebook Watch offers Vodafone customers the ability to access videos from one of the world’s largest libraries, sourced from partners, publishers and individual creators, including national broadcasters. Programming ranges from news and entertainment to games and live events.

Content created by celebrities and influencers is also included. In addition, sports fans can also watch live and on-demand content from selected major competitions on Facebook Watch and access content from teams and players. The line-up also features Facebook originals.

Facebook Watch also offers Vodafone customers a section that informs them what friends are watching, recommending or commenting on.
