The Francophone AVOD platform TV5Mondeplus has been visited over 15 million times since its launch last September.
Furthermore, according to Satellifax, quoting TV5Monde CEO Yves Bigot, 750,000 hours of its content was consumed from 214 countries and territories, with over 5.6 million videos viewed.
TV fictions (41.2%) and cinema (30.8%) accounted for more than 70% of the videos watched, with the next most popular genres being Memory and Society (6.4%), French language (5.5%) and youth (4.8%).
TV5Mondeplus is most viewed in Algeria, followed by France, Morocco, Spain and Argentina, with the Maghreb-Middle East region as a whole leading in terms of viewership (27.5% of videos started). It is followed by Europe, excluding French-speaking countries (19.3%), Latin America (18.2%), France-Belgium-Switzerland (15.5%), Africa (13.4%) and Asia-Pacific (6.1%).
Self-financing accounts for only 10% of TV5Mondeplus’s €114 million (excluding Canada) budget and the service is aiming to increase its viewership by 10-12%.
The service is currently subtitled into five languages, namely French, English, Spanish, Arabic and German.
