German broadcaster Sport1 has launched a subscription streaming platform for sports fans in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
Sport1 Extra offers livestreams and on-demand content of various sports and competitions on the web and on mobile devices.
It kicks off with the German Women’s Volleyball Bundesliga: All matches will be broadcast live and exclusively.
Viewers are offered various subscription and price models: They can book all matches of the season, all matches of a club or individual matches.
In addition, Sport1 Extra shows selected broadcasts from pay-TV channel Sport1+ on pay-per-view basis including football from Europe and South America, motor sports such as the NASCAR Cup Series, the IndyCar Series or FIM Speedway as well as ice hockey from the Champions Hockey League.
More sports, competitions and leagues will be added in the coming months.
Sport1 operates Sport1 Extra together with Airtango: The German OTT service provider takes over the operational running of the website including the integration of the streams as well as the visualisation and description of the offers and content.
