Amazon has announced a new line-up of Fire TV devices including a range of Amazon-built smart TVs.
Initially available in the United States, the Amazon Fire TV Omni series has as a starting price of $409.99. The smart TV features Alexa hands-free voice control with 4K Ultra HD, and Dolby Digital Plus. Far-field voice control makes it possible to talk to Alexa from across the room. It is available in 43”, 50”, 55”, 65”, and 75” model sizes, with 4K Ultra HD (UHD) resolution, as well as support for HDR10, HLG, and Dolby Digital Plus. The 65” and 75” models feature a slim bezel that blends seamlessly into your home décor and added support for Dolby Vision.
Significantly, there is integration with smart home products, many owned by Amazon. These include Live View Picture-in-Picture, which allows viewers to check their smart cameras without interrupting TV viewing. There is also a Ring video doorbell view for when someone is at the door.
Later in the year a software update will introduce a smart home dashboard that will be able to control multiple devices throughout the home.
Amazon hasn’t completely left behind its manufacturer partners. New sets have been announced with Pioneer and Toshiba, which will also be available through its US retail partner Best Buy.
