Wirtualna Polska opts for Redge Media

September 9, 2021 12.18 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

Redge Media DRM has been implemented for Wirtualna Polska’s online video services.

It provides a Multi-DRM solution based on Google Widevine, Microsoft PlayReady and Apple FairPlay for WP Pilot, which is one of the largest OTT platforms in Poland, with over 2 million users per month. WP also uses Redge Media CDN to handle traffic peaks.

WP Pilot provides viewers 100 TV channels spanning several genres and is available through the website, applications for Android, iOS and Windows platforms, as well via Chromecast and Airplay. WP Pilot also has applications dedicated to TV sets and the Android TV platform.

Commenting on the development, Przemyslaw Frasunek, board member of Redge Technologies, said: “We are proud to be able to cooperate with the largest vMVPD service in Poland. Redge Media DRM is one of the services from our video delivery portfolio offered in the cloud model, using the API. A core element of our platform is also the unique content watermarking technology, which allows the content to be marked with a watermark unique to each user. Ensuring the security of multimedia content is one of the strategic pillars of our business”.

Marcin Malicki, head of WP Pilot, added: “Thanks to the extensive experience of Redge Technologies, we are sure that this solution guarantees the highest standards of streaming security. Thus it meets the expectations of the largest international broadcasters. Thanks to this, we can offer our users the best channels and content – such as Disney channels”.

Redge Media DRM serves over 7 million end users Europe-wide, including WP Pilot, Discovery’s player.pl, RASP’s vod.pl, Iliad’s Play Now, Bite’s Go3 and the major pay-TV provider in Scandinavia. DRM is provided as Cloud service or as on-premise deployment.

Redge Media DRM is a module of the complete Redge Media Video Delivery ecosystem comprising Encoders, Origin, CDN, DRM and Player
