Nicolau Santos has been appointed president of the Portuguese public broadcaster RTP.
According to the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), of which RTP is a member, he has worked as President of Lusa, the Portuguese Press Agency, for the last three years.
Previously, he worked as the director of a range of economic newspapers and of the popular daily paper Publico.
Santos was also deputy director of Expresso, an independent weekly newspaper.
An experienced journalist, he was co-host of a regular news show on SIC, the private Portuguese channel.
