Digi Communications, whose interests include Romania’s leading pay-TV operator RCS&RDS, is planning to enter the Portuguese market.
Quoting Profit.ro, Media Expres reports that the company has decided to participate in a 5G auction, thereby complicating the expansion plans of MasMovil.
The latter, which is Spain’s fourth largest mobile operator, controls Portugal’s Nowo and is hoping to buy affordable frequencies in Lisbon, Porto and the Algarve.
Broadband TV News notes that Digi was controversially stopped from applying for 5G frequencies in Hungary and is now in the process of selling its operation in the country to 4iG.
